The ‘free’ Cleanfeed is now becoming Cleanfeed Lite. Aside from a fresh new look to the service, why are we doing this and what does it mean for you?

Firstly, Cleanfeed Lite continues our tradition of offering an introductory service, at zero cost to you.

But it’s our Cleanfeed Pro subscribers that keep the lights on for everyone; funding development and keeping our business sustainable.

With several years of adding new features to Cleanfeed Pro, the gap has widened. The free Cleanfeed was, for a while, left behind. It ended up reflected a historic version of Cleanfeed from about 2018, rather than the best features.

With the introduction of Cleanfeed Lite we’re reframing this; a new introductory service that sits logically alongside Cleanfeed Pro.

It’s our way of making our technology available to everyone, but showcasing the best of Cleanfeed Pro which is the professional offering we’re centred around.

The changes

Some useful and smaller features are newly available in Cleanfeed Lite for everyone to benefit; such as audible alerts when guests come and go, and visibility of who’s also in the session.

However, if you’re hosting sessions with larger groups then you’ll want to consider upgrading, as Cleanfeed Lite is limited to 3 participants at the same time. Cleanfeed Pro lets you connect larger groups, and it shines with extra features for dealing with them, too.

Shareable links by default

A powerful new feature is that Cleanfeed Lite moves Shareable invites to be the default.

A shareable link is a URL which can be used by all guests to join the session. Compared to Personalised invites, basic workflows tend to be less error-prone when shareable links are used; they can be shared with a group, attached to calendar entry or bookmarked.

Personalised invites still have their uses, and will be available in Cleanfeed Lite for a transition period. So your workflow relies on them you can carry on using them for now, and take some time to decide what you want to do. But in the near future these will be exclusive Cleanfeed Pro (and Cleanfeed Cinema.) They offer the additional flexibility likely to appeal to power users and Cleanfeed Pro subscribers.
